What makes a neighborhood cool?

To Ailton Krenake
The north wind will blow
And we shall have snow
                  (traditional)

South winds make a neighborhood cool
Dense canopies
Wide ones, bending heavy to the ground
Green stretches every couple of blocks
And gardens on rooftops
To meet our appetite for veggies
Our lust for damp and deep
An abundance of water sources
Hoses sprinklers fountains rivers
The crystal sound of
            children playing
                hide-and-
    seeking their
conspicuous shadows
Our souls
Quiet ponds to reflect the sky
And wise men
Wise old men who can convince the clouds
To keep drifting overhead
